Featured Project
The Perth GPO redevelopment project, managed by Incoll Management (on behalf of Australia Post), achieved a Four Star Green Star (Office Design V2) rating by the Green Building Council Australia (GBCA) on 2 October 2008.
The project team including, NDY and HBO+EMTB, worked with Incoll to make the Perth GPO the first refurbishment project in Western Australia to achieve a Green Star rating. This project joins only two other new build projects in WA that have achieved this rating. Of the 90 Green Star accredited projects in Australia to date, it is also only the second heritage listed building, and the first in Western Australia.
The GPO is a Commonwealth and state heritage listed building located in Perth's central business district that was completed in 1923. The redevelopment of this iconic Perth building saw a full refurbishment of the 11,500m2 floor area for office and retail space. As part of the works existing services were replaced, three new passenger lifts were installed together with several bridges spanning the newly-enclosed central atrium. A number of features were incorporated as part of the refurbishment design that contributed to the Green Star rating, including the use of chilled beam technology for the air conditioning systems, selection of energy efficient light fittings and the integration of the office tenant fit out.
The project team of Incoll, HBO+EMTB and NDY has the distinction of achieving the same feat in Sydney with the recently completed Green Star design rated refurbishment of 50 Pitt Street for Hawaiian Investments.
